This evening, right here in Canton, I attended my first real political rally. I was pleasantly surprised as I chatted with many acquaintances whom I haven't seen since our respective offspring graduated from high school and moved on. We were there for a purpose: to support a man in his bid to claim the 23rd Congressional District seat, a man who stands for the values and fiscal conservatism that we believe this country needs. I walked into my office yesterday and had not one but two space heaters to warm up the place. Even though I came prepared with slippers and blanket, I did not need them.

I came home from work yesterday frozen. Well, maybe not frozen, but definitely chilled thoroughly to the bone. My office is located in the back of our large church building. It has radiators which do a pretty good job when the heat is on in the building. Being such a large building, though, it's quite costly to heat. And with only a few of us there on any particular day during the week, it's just not practical to crank up the boilers each day.

The two ladies in the regular office shut their door and crank up a portable space heater. Being a smaller, shared space, it's downright beach weather in there!

My spot is shared with a conference room and the CFA offices. It was chilly last week but then I wasn't really dressed for a cold office. Yesterday I thought I was prepared wearing a long sleeved blouse, fleece vest, jeans and socks. About half an hour into my time, I popped on my coat and made my way down to the regular office where they graciously hunted down a space heater for me to use. That little heater revved up and worked, and worked, and worked. Pretty soon I could take my jacket off, but decided I'd better keep it wrapped around my knees. By the end of my hours there, it got the area around my desk cranked up to a whopping 61 degrees!

Note to self for next week: sweater, fleece, wool socks, jeans, scarf, jacket, and definitely a blanket!

It's a damp, dreary, drizzly day.
Just the way I think a day should be when you lose a family member.
My mother-in-law died last night.
