The Constitution of the United States and The Declaration of Independence

I have a little booklet that contains both of these important texts. We picked it up years ago on a visit to our nation's capital.  It was published by the Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution, Washington D.C.

Warren Burger, Chief Justice of the United States, 1969-1986, chaired the commission.
He wrote the forward which states, in part:
"This Constitution was not perfect; it is not perfect today even with amendments, but it has continued longer than any other written form of government,  It sought to fulfill the promises of the Declaration of Independence of 1776, which expressed peoples' yearning to be free and to develop the talents given them by their Creator."

Included also is a quote from Alexander Hamilton, 1775

"The sacred rights of mankind are not to be rummaged for, among old parchments, or musty records.  They are written, as with a sun beam in the whole volume of human nature, by the hand of the divinity itself; and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power."
